Tackling the Junkyard

There is nothing that Jared and I have been dreading more than the side yard. For one solid year we have put this off but it no longer can be ignored, it truly is a sight for sore eyes. This side yard has been a dumping ground for the previous owners for years! The things we pulled out of this side yard was frightening! At one point we wouldn't have been surprised to dig up a dead body! Thankfully there was none of that just tons of plastic, bricks, cardboard, bags, tennis balls, metal scraps, rocks, a rotted wood trailer complete with license plate, bungee cords, hoses, coat hangers….the list goes on and on!

Here was the side yard last fall…pretty scary

This is a smaller garden bed that was soooo overgrown and according to neighbors it hasn't been touched for years…lovely
Here is what it looks like now after we removed the two dead bushes and cleaned out some of the myrtle…we then divided and transplanted some of our ornamental grasses to fill in the patches. Still need to edge and mulch it but definitely a start.

So here is the weed/junk garden we started with….(notice the kitty in the window that's Boomer)

Day one complete! 3/4 of the way done! Yay!

Day 1 complete! We are officially 3/4 of the way done cleaning out this side yard! What a relief! We hauled a total of three bags of trash and 10 bags of weeds/debris. Gone for good! Tomorrow we will complete the junk haul away and update you all on our plans for this space.
