DIY Moisturizing Hand Scrub

I don't know about you but when the weather starts getting colder, my hands get dry and cracked. This scrub is the perfect thing to revitalize those parched hands; it exfoliates, cleans, and moisturizes. Best of all it's super easy to make! Jared comes home from working with motor oil and this stuff works miracles! So I can say this is a great multi-purpose hand scrub that we love and we will be gifting it for the holidays.

So here's what you need:
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dawn Olay Hand Renewal Dish Soap
  • 8 oz. mason jar
  • measuring cup
  • measuring spoon
  • small mixing bowl
  • spoon

The 8 oz. mason jar

Combine 3/4 cup white sugar with 2 tbsp Dawn dish soap

 Mix together

This is what yours should look like after mixing
(If it's too thick feel free to add a little more soap)

Spoon the mixture into mason jar

Tada! There you have it your very own moisturizing hand scrub!

Use hand…..
 Or spoon…whatever you prefer! Enjoy

Note: I recommend putting on your hands before wetting them, so it doesn't get soupy.

  1. Hi, just wondering if you have to use that particular type of soap?

  2. Hi Anna,
Great question! I've tried it with other soaps such as body washes and have had great results as well! You just might have to add more or less sugar depending on the consistency of the soap.

  3. Is it supposed to be pasty or lotion-y?

    1. Hi Sarah,

Mine turned out to be more pasty but I think that's because I had more sugar than soap. If you prefer a more lotion-y consistency you could try adding more soap!

  4. I received this as a gift, I think Dawn was a little rough on my dry skin. I would love to make some, but I need something milder.

    1. Hi Anne,

You can always play around with different kinds of soaps. There are some soaps that are much more mild that you could try mixing with the sugar. Try to make sure the soap you use is moisturizing so it won't be too harsh on your skin!
