I absolutely love, and I mean LOVE the fall. In upstate NY we experience apple and pumpkin picking, the changing of the leaves and that nice crisp air. There really is nothing like it! This apple dumpling recipe is my favorite, it's super easy to make and delicious. Here's what you need:
-1 granny smith apple
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tube of crescent rolls
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 12 ounces of Mountain Dew
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Combine 1 cup white sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon
Melt 1 stick of butter
Add the sugar mixture to the butter and stir thoroughly
Peel 1 granny smith apple….
….then dice
You will need a baking pan at least 8x10" and a few inches deep and make sure you spray the pan well with a cooking spray
Note: I always cover my pan in foil to make cleanup easier.
Add a spoonful of apples to the middle of a crescent roll and then drizzle some of the butter/sugar/cinnamon mixture over the apples
Fold the crescent rolls and place on pan (repeat with all rolls)
After placing the dumplings on your greased pan, spoon the leftover mixture over the top of each
Lastly, poor the mountain dew into the pan around the dumplings
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees
The dumplings should be browned and crispy on the top
You can serve with vanilla ice cream or just eat plain! Enjoy :)
OMG!!! Looks awesome
